I am, in this blog, going to criticize my elders. Since I am publishing it for the whole world to read I am doing so in public. I need to do so without causing offence.
So I thought I would just give some quotes from books I have read that I thought my elders can learn from. A bit late in the day, maybe, but better late than never.
Quotes are from Bertrand Russell, Francis Bacon, Sun Tzu and Ram Dass with a couple of links to my earlier blogs thrown in.
So here are the quotes:

Sun Tzu On Knowing yourself
If you know yourself and know the enemy you need not fear the result of a thousand battles.
The lesson I learnt that applied to me particularly was to avoid self deception.
Sun Tzu On Enforcing Obedience

Ram Dass on What it means to mature and grow wise
Wisdom involves another equally crucial function: the emptying and quieting of the mind, the application of the heart, and the alchemy of reason and feeling. In the wisdom mode we are not processing information, analytically or sequentially. We are standing back and viewing the whole, discerning what matters and what does not, weighing the meaning and depth of things. This quality of wisdom is rare in our culture. More often, we have knowledgeable people who pretend to be wise, but who, unfortunately, have not cultivated the quality of mind from which wisdom truly arises.
