Insights relating to a Business Opportunity

The name of this website is Insights and Experiences but – in truth – I have not written too many posts about my personal experiences.

This post is going to be an exception. I am about to describe my reasoning process that I used in order to decide whether or not to take up an online business opportunity. Maybe some youngsters – if they happen to read this post – will get guidance.

The opportunity in question is at the following (not an affiliate link):

The following were my reasons for purchasing the business opportunity:

  • The opportunity is not very expensive – less than a hundred US dollars. In addition to that there is a 14-day money back guarantee.
  •  I was trying to figure out (after reading the sales letter) whether it would work. But the only way to know if the opportunity really worked was by taking the training that was on offer after the purchase. As Sherlock Holmes said: It is a capital mistake to theorise in the absence of data. After the training I would be in a position to know whether it is the real deal. In other words, do not theorise now before making the purchase.
  • The sales page is talking about making 5 figures a month (in USD). That is more than sufficient income. In a way the opportunity is similar to a lottery ticket. I have to gamble 14 days and about a hundred USD to earn. If it works out – great. If it doesn’t – I haven’t lost too much.

And the following were the reasons against taking up the opportunity:

  • The opportunity talked about earning 5K to 7K (in USD) per project by designing funnels for businesses. There is no way anybody can learn the skills required to earn such large amounts in 14 days. Through an online search I found that in addition to mastering the (purchased) software I would need to be an expert in copywriting. That is a skill that takes years to master.
  • In other words the sales letter is misleading and does not give the complete picture. That means that there is a possibility of being misled in future if I choose the seller as a guide by taking up the opportunity.
  • I have sometimes purchased expensive business opportunities because I lacked something to do. As the saying goes: An idle mind is a devil’s workshop. In my case, many a times, an idle mind has caused me to reach out for my credit card because I wanted to work and not because the business had potential as such. You should start a business because you want to make money and not because you are feeling bored doing nothing.
  • But the deciding factor was my analysis and appraisal of myself. I have a mental ailment and am fickle minded, jumping about from one business to the next. According to Napoleon Hill a businessman needs to be quick in taking decisions and slow to change them. I am the complete opposite. I am slow to take decisions and quick to change them. My characteristic is that of a scholar or a scientist and not that of a successful businessman. As Sun Tzu said – “If you know yourself and know the enemy you need not fear the results of a thousand battles”.

For all these reasons I have decided not to do business but be happy with my blog. If (by a miracle) I get a job I may be able to earn but otherwise it makes no sense throwing good money down the drain.

Hope this helps. Thanks for reading.
